Abstract
A consumer warranty is a guarantee from a seller or manufacturer that guarantees the quality and reliability of a product. You can hold the seller liable if the product does not meet these standards, such as if it breaks or does not work as advertised. You can often claim a free replacement or repair of the product.
Warranties cover most new product purchases. There are different types of warranties. The seller may explain the warranty at the time of sale. You may be able to buy an extended warranty for a fee. Some warranties are simply implied.
Each type of warranty has its own laws or conditions. The following information describes how product warranties work and how to recognize when you may have one.
