Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the impact of visual load associated with digital technologies on the functional state of the visual system. The research had an analytical-observational design and included 60 participants aged 18–35 who used electronic devices for 4–6 hours daily, as well as a control group of 30 healthy individuals. The visual system was evaluated using visometry, autorefractometry, accommodation amplitude, near point of convergence, and tear film stability assessments. Functional parameters were re-evaluated after 90 minutes of continuous computer use. The results demonstrated that prolonged visual load leads to accommodative strain, temporary reduction in visual acuity, eye fatigue, and increased symptoms of dry eye. In conclusion, digital technologies exert a significant functional impact on the visual system, and adherence to visual hygiene and preventive measures is essential to mitigate these adverse effects.
